Meet the Coaches

Izzy Martinez

Izzy grew up in Winnetka, CA and has been playing beach volleyball since she was 10. She is currently a junior at Cal Poly, playing under Todd Rogers on the NCAA Division I beach volleyball team, and is majoring in English. In 2024, she earned the honor of First Team All-American, and also received Big West Pair of the Year alongside partner Ella Connor. She loves sharing her passion for the game with others and can’t wait to help develop the next generation of beach volleyball players!

Addie Bounds

Addie is from Jupiter, Florida and grew up playing indoor and beach volleyball on the East Coast. She is a junior at Cal Poly and is so grateful to be competing as a Mustang on the Cal Poly D1 beach volleyball team. She is eager to continue growing her game with guidance from “The Professor”, Todd Rogers and is excited to share her knowledge with the athletes at Dig Deep. Addie is a Business major concentrating in entrepreneurship and has been coaching young volleyball players for several years now.

Emily Sonny

Emily Sonny is a Cal Poly Alumni who played on the beach team from 2016-2021. She had an immense impact both on and off the court through her extreme talent and leadership qualities. She was apart of history when she helped her team make it to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 2019. In 2021, she earned First Team All-American honors. She has over 6 years of experience with the sport and is excited to share her skills and knowledge with Dig Deep players. Emily is also the creative behind our logo and gear creations!

Andrew johnson

Andrew grew up playing beach volleyball in his hometown, a tiny island in the western Pacific called Saipan. He currently plays on the Saipan national beach volleyball team, and has competed in Papua New Guinea, Thailand, the Solomon Islands, Hawaii, and all over the coast of California. In 2015, Andrew moved to SLO to pursue a bachelors degree in business administration at Cal Poly.  Since then, his love for beach volleyball has grown substantially, and during his later years of college he began coaching his fellow Cal Poly club teammates as well as local high schoolers during the summers. After graduating in 2019, Andrew decided to make the central coast his home. He continues to coach and play beach whenever the opportunity arises.

Jess Manley

Jess Manley began playing beach volleyball at the age of 10 in San Diego, often partnering with her sister. After competing at Wave Beach Volleyball Club, she went on to play at the University of Arizona in 2016, followed by Cal Poly in 2017. Since then, Jess has cultivated a love for all types of sports and continues to enjoy playing beach volleyball with friends in San Luis Obispo for fun.
